Job Growth in Volusia County is a Good Sign

As summer draws to a close and school swings back into session, it’s exciting to see that our local job market is on the up-swing. According to a recent report from the Dayton Beach News Journal, Volusia and Flagler counties filled over 3,800 jobs in July, compared to just 87 jobs filled in June.

In a community the depends largely on tourism and the service industry, it’s extremely encouraging to see people going back to work. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are real, and many employers have increased wages for their employees, both to retain staff and to attract new employees. The community is hopeful that this will have a long-term positive effect on the local economy.

In the senior living space, staffing is always a critical issue. Families and senior living residents depend on consistent, well-trained staff to provide excellent customer service and resident care. Communities that ensure low turnover in their staffing often have the best customer experience for their residents and guests.

Sunscape Daytona Beach is proud to be part of Solvere Living, a leader in operating successful senior living communities across the country, which has received the Great Place to Work award four years in a row. We believe that providing a positive and uplifting work environment to our team members is critical to keeping staff turnover low and resident service standards high!

Congratulations to Volusia and Flagler employers for a great month of hiring!
