Dear Residents and Family,

We know this is a stressful time of uncertainty, but please be assured that we have already started taking precautions and will keep you as informed as possible. Please continue to check our website for updates as we will be updating it regularly throughout the storm and after as needed. As always, you can always contact me directly with concerns. See below for the latest updates:

9.29.22 Update at 11:00am EST

Both residents and team members are doing very well. At 7:45am today, the community did lose power, but have a backup generator on as winds started to increase. Community maintenance is handling some issues of water leaks however, no other significant damage has been reported as of this time. Breakfast for residents was delivered to their apartments. We will continue to provide updates throughout the day.

09.28.22 Update at 10:00 a.m. EST
Currently, at this time, we are not under an evacuation order, and we are prepared to Shelter in Place through the storm. Our building is in a No Evacuation zone and above the flood level. We are continuing to monitor Hurricane Ian and while we can’t control the weather, we can remain dedicated and committed to our residents! Some of our staff have brought their families to stay here so they do not have to worry about their loved ones while they are caring for yours. If State or Local authorities do call for an evacuation, we have coordinated transportation arrangements for our residents and supplies will be brought with us. We will continue to monitor Hurricane Ian and update residents and families as the situation changes.
Continue to Stay Safe,

09.27.22 UPDATE AT 10:30 A.M. EST

The team and Residents are in good spirits. We continue to remain in touch with the Volusia County Office of Emergency Management and we still plan on sheltering in place. If this direction would change, we have made the necessary arrangements. In the event of an evacuation, Residents will be transported by bus to a Solvere sister community, Cabana at Jensen Beach. We have busses at the ready and additional team members will follow with supplies.

We will continue to update you here as we learn more.

09.26.22 UPDATE

The following is a list of what we have already implemented or plan to:

  • The generator, which provides power to all common areas and emergency outlets, has been topped off and tested.
  • Food, water, and general supplies have been checked, and we are sufficiently stocked.
  • Sternos, flashlights, batteries, and air mattresses have been purchased.
  • Team Leaders and Members are prepared for pre, during, and post-storm support for the community.
  • All furniture on residents’ patios will be brought inside.
  • All outdoor furniture has been moved indoors and secured.
  • Sandbags for all entryways have been obtained.
  • All roof drains have been checked and cleared.
  • All Medication Administration Records and Care Plans have been printed to ensure continuity of care.
  • All medications are being checked to ensure we have at least a 5 day supply from Tuesday on. Any medication not in five-day supply will be ordered STAT.
  • Our leadership team will hold daily meetings, more frequently, if needed, so that we can review any outstanding tasks and ensure that we are keeping you updated

Please know that we are doing all we can to maintain the safety of residents and team members. I have spoken with the Volusia County Office of Emergency Management, and we currently plan on sheltering in place. If you are planning to take your loved one to your home, please be sure to communicate with us to ensure that we have an accurate list of residents staying in the community and so that we can provide you with any medications or supplies in advance.

Stay safe,

 Liz DiSano

General Manager
